The Educational Foundation is the scholarship and grant portion of
AAUW. Nationally, AAUW is one of the largest
sources of
grants, scholarships and fellowships for higher education.
For
AAUW National, the Branch funds the
NMCB Research and Development
Named Unit Grant
with proceeds from the book sale, bridge group and other fundraisers.
On a local level, the Branch funds scholarships at Brookdale Community
College, Monmouth University and Douglass College. Every year, we also
honor the top female senior math student in each of the 22 local high
schools.
Our investment in the educational future of woman is our major goal.
Local scholarships:
- Audrie
LaTowsky Scholarship - Brookdale
Community College, Lincroft, New Jersey
Applications are available from January to May in the
Brookdale Financial Aid Office or through the branch Scholarship
Chairperson. The recipient is selected by a branch scholarship
committee. The scholarship is awarded at the close of the spring
semester for use starting the following fall.
- Esther
Hymer Scholarship - Monmouth
University, West Long Branch, New Jersey
Selected by the university, the recipient is a junior or
senior female resident of Monmouth County with a high
GPA majoring in gender studies, political science,
international relations or economics with a focus on women and with
financial need.
- Ruth
Kennedy Scholarship - Douglass
College, New Brunswick, New Jersey
The recipient, selected by the college, is an incoming
junior
or senior female from Monmouth County with a high GPA and financial
need.
